Bentonite

Bentonite is an absorbent swelling clay consisting mostly of montmorillonite which can either be Na-montmorillonite or Ca-montmorillonite. Na-montmorillonite has a considerably greater swelling capacity than Ca-montmorillonite.When pelletizing iron ore, the addition of small amounts of the synergistic organic binder Alcotac® saves up to 60% of the bentonite dosage, resulting in a reduction of silica and alumina impurities and less logistic handling. Plant operators can operate more efficiently without compromising pellet quality. Alcotac® synergistic organic bindersAlcotac – synergistic organic binders - BASFHowever, it reduces the iron grade and adversely affects the metallurgical performance, especially reducibility, of fired pellets, because bentonite contains mainly aluminum silicate and contributes to slag formation after induration, which blocks the pores and retards the diffusion of reducing gases.Pelletization - an overview | ScienceDirect Topicsاحصل على السعر

Iron ore pelletization - ScienceDirect

A brief introduction to recent developments in iron ore pelletizing is provided in this chapter, including the world output of fired pellets, pellet production processes, preparation of pellet feed, inorganic and organic binders, and new additives.Intensification of the iron ore sintering process was approached by injecting hydrogen-rich gas into the sinter bed. The location of the injection was critical to the pyrolysis of the solid fuel, and the SOx and NOx emissions. ... In another approach of maximizing the calcined lime addition, a maximum in the productivity was noticed at 40 kg/t ...A Process Intensification Approach to Improve Productivity ... - SpringerThe results confirmed that the addition of micro-pellets to the sinter mix improved the permeability of the sinter bed. ... A huge quantity of iron ore slime is being accumulated during operation of iron ore processing plant of National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) Limited, India for last many years. ... The addition of 1% bentonite decreases the iron content by about 7 kg/ton of iron ore . Currently, 3.2 Mt of bentonite is used for pelletizing iron for ironmaking. ... The presence of bentonite in the sintering process hinders the formation of magnesioferrite during sintering, thereby promoting the reduction of bentonite-bonded fired pellets. Each year, a typical plant producing 8 million tons of pellets spends about US$5 million for bentonite. Lower-cost alternatives to this significant cost item are therefore desirable. One promising type of binder is based on high-carbon fly-ash, which has been shown in laboratory studies to be suitable for producing iron ore pellets of ...Can fly-ash extend bentonite binder for iron ore agglomeration?احصل على السعر
